Dear Friends in Christ,

How is it the Second full week of Advent? Time sure does fly when you are having fun...or being run ragged with Christmas parties, Christmas shopping, preparations for family gatherings...the list goes on.
Earlier this week, one of my favorite writers (Shauna Niequist) that I follow on Facebook posted a note: "I LOVE Christmas cards, but in the spirit of simplicity, none from us this year. Saying it publicly, so I don't go rogue & rush order at the last minute." I wonder how we might reclaim simplicity and hold each other accountable during this season so that we don't miss the true meaning and the true gift of Christmas.

Indeed, Holy Cross has lots to offer during this season of preparation: We've got prayer services (Advent Vespers WOW at 6p on Wednesdays); We have our church family Christmas on December 21 at 4p; We have worship each Sunday (8a & 10:30a). It is my prayer that these events provide much needed hope and rest that comes at Advent, rather than additional tasks to accomplish as we rush to Bethlehem.  Stop by, come in, and rest in the promise that Christ is coming soon!
