Dear Friends in Christ -

Our Revelation reading from Sunday is about beginnings and endings. Almighty God had created the heavens and the earth and the fullness therein to give glory to him, but by Genesis 3 & 4, doubt, sin, murder, and death had crept in and destroyed the perfect world God had made. In Revelation 21, God redeems his creation by redeeming the old world with the renewing and reconciling power of resurrection life! The beginning and the end mirror one another; just as God declares his name: "I am the Alpha & the Omega." Using the first and last letter of the Greek alphabet, God gives us the promise that he will be with us as he always has been and always will be.
We look forward to the redemption of creation, of which you are included, but in the meantime, we trust that God will sustain us and continually make us new through his Word, the gift of prayer, the Sacraments, and the enduring presence of his Spirit.

Thanks be to God -
