Dear Friends in Christ-

Have you ever stopped to ponder what difference Jesus has made in your life? Have you literally taken the time to think about what difference the life, death and resurrection has made for you? Sometimes, I fear that we take Jesus for granted.
For the Thessalonians in our second reading on Sunday (1 Thessalonians 5:1-11), they realized that Jesus had indeed made a huge impact of their very existence. Because of Jesus, they waited longingly, expectantly, and hopefully for His second coming. They rested so confidently in his life, death, and resurrection that they lived differently and anticipated the glory of heaven and the absolute joy of Jesus' presence.
Each day this week, take a little time to give thanks to God for the difference that Jesus has made in your life. You might think of the forgiveness of sins, the new freedom you experience in him, the hopefulness with which you view the world. This is because of Jesus and I'm glad to be in community with you all, who acknowledge the transformational power of Jesus in our daily lives.
Have a hope-filled week!
