Dear Friends in Christ -

Meg and I have returned from SD and beat the snow home. Thank you for the time away to refresh and renew. I enjoyed walking the fields of SD and we celebrated a cousin's wedding, which was really lovely.

Our Gospel reading for Sunday talked about a wedding and encouraged us to be ready for the return of the bridegroom. As we come to the end of Ordinary Time and the end of the Church Year, the readings for the last couple Sundays before Advent are anticipatory themselves. They call us to wait with intention just before the waiting season. Although Advent typically anticipates both the arrival of the Christ child and the return of Christ the King, the last Sundays of the church year focus their energy on his second coming.

Christ is indeed coming again, and we will be with him - our wicks trimmed and oil burning in our lamps. But he comes to us over and over in the hearing of his Word and the Sacraments. He is present to us in our fellow members of the Body of Christ as we serve one another and share his love with the world. We look forward to the ways in which Christ comes again to us as we live out "The God-Fashioned Life" together.
Waiting to Wait with you -
