Dear Friends in Christ -

The season of Lent begins on February 14. Typically Valentine’s Day is reserved for expressions of romance and sentimentality. I must admit, Ash Wednesday will not be overly sentimental, but there will be a healthy dose of truth. As we gather, we will face to the reality of our mortality. At the same time, we will begin our Lenten season focusing on the truth and hope we have been given in Jesus Christ, his death and resurrection.

This year’s Lenten focus is prayer. While there will be opportunities to think and learn about prayer, it is my hope that we will become people of prayer, seeing every opportunity to be in conversation with God. Through prayer, we face the truth about the dust we are, but the hope we have been given - that Jesus loves us, cares for us, and is calling us into deeper relationship with him. There is no more important relationship we have than with Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.

Praying through Lent with you -
