Dear Friends in Christ -

Have you ever noticed the similarities of our Christmas celebrations and the first Christmas night? Families were hustling to make their way to their hometowns, and we too rush home, wherever that may be this year. Packing lists and presents were packed on animals and now in automobiles. Maybe a simple candle lit the stable where Christ was born, and the flickering candles of the candlelight service illumine our hearts and lives with the warmth of his love.
Christ entered the world unnoticed; if you don't look beyond the bargains, the wrapping paper, and the many gatherings with friends and family, you too, might miss him today. Thankfully, Christmas and the tiny Child refuse to be hidden: Angels appearing, Glory enlightening, shepherds running, and the star shining. I pray that the next hours and days will fill your heart with "the good news of great joy which is for all the people." Christ was born on this day in Bethlehem. He was born for your forgiveness, for your salvation, for your eternity. He was born for you!
Merry Christmas!
