Dear Friends in Christ -

On Sunday, we held the tension of suffering and comfort, slavery and freedom, death and life. Miriam, the Mother of Praise recounted the beautiful story of deliverance at the Red Sea. Our lives are lived in that tension. As we look to the joy and celebration of Christmas, we also carry the brokenness of relationships and the pain of the world in our hearts.
That is what Advent is all about. It is about learning to trust God in the face of uncertainty. It is knowing that God's promises will be fulfilled, even if we cannot see the ending. It is about being "joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer" (Romans 12:12). It isn't always comfortable, but it is certainly faithful.
Hanging in there with you all -
