Dear Friends in Christ -

This weekend, we gathered with family and friends to celebrate Oliver's birthday. We joined many of you at worship and Faith Formation on Sunday. Also, Meg and I joined the families of Sam Szczesny and Allan Dale for their wedding celebration yesterday. Then this morning we woke up to the tragic news of the shooting in Vegas.

In the midst of joys and sorrows, God is there. While we celebrate the beauty of life shared in meaningful relationships, pain, suffering, and cross-bearing are never too far behind. We know that God has redeemed the world from all the chaos, and yet we pray more fervently that he would bring the violence to cease.

With the prophet we beg that they would "beat their swords into plowshares and wouldn't learn war anymore." This is why we have faith. We hold out hope even when it seems that hope is lost. We share the love of Jesus in small and big ways, in the only ways we know how, so that Christ's Kingdom would come among us as we cling to his promises and share his light with the world.

Praying for peace and comfort -
Pastor Culynn
