Dear Friends in Christ -

"O Come, O Come..."
That prayer is rather bizarre if we see God as a tyrant or holy God who is constantly disappointed in our many shortcomings. But this prayer is entirely different when you know God as the One who wishes to be gracious to you. It is different when you know God as giver of mercy, slow to anger and abounding in love. This Advent season, we are indeed waiting for something, but it isn't like we are waiting for "it" to happen, but we aren't sure what the "it" thing is. No!

We know that Christ is coming again soon. And so, our whole lives are oriented to this Advent theme: "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel--God with us." Come, O God, and save us from ourselves. Come and restore our brokenness and make us new. Come and establish a new relationship with you--face to face--in your glorious and peaceable kingdom.
